‘A Quiet Place 2’, ‘007’, ‘Morbius’, ‘Uncharted’ and all rescheduled movies

Major Hollywood studios have again postponed their blockbusters due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) which has caused the closure of more than half of theaters worldwide. As the millionaire investment in productions demanded a financial return, distributors decided to postpone their films again.

After MGM and Universal kicked off the next wave of postponement with ‘007 – No Time to Die’, which ran from April to October 8, 2021, other studios followed the tram.

Paramount Pictures announced today that “A Quiet Place – Part 2” has been postponed again. Scheduled for March 19, the studio has decided to postpone the premiere of the suspense until September 17, 2021.

Now it remains to be seen whether the studio will also postpone ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, scheduled for July 9. Netflix and Hulu made generous offers to Paramount to acquire the film. Details of the negotiations were not disclosed, but the publication said the studio had rejected the proposals, due to “the strength of the film’s box office outlook.”

Sony has also postponed several of its productions.

Project Cinderella, slated for February 4, is now only set to debut on July 16. Singer and actress Camila Cabello will play the main character. Billy Porter will be the fairy godmother, Idina Menzel will play Lady Tremaine, Nicholas Galitzine will be Robert and Pierce Brosnan will bring the king to life.

‘Ghostbusters: But Além’, which was slated for release on March 5, won’t hit theaters until November 11, 2021.

Sony Pictures also announced the postponement of “ Morbius ” – from March 19 to October, and “ Uncharted ” from October 8, 2021 to February 2022.

As studios and exhibitors are wary of audiences returning to theaters, postponing big movies was the best decision.

In the coming days, other studios should publish the dates of their next releases.
