Grammy-nominated Scottish music DJ SOPHIE, known for her electronic influences that made her one of the pioneers of contemporary music, has passed away today (30) at the age of 34.

The artist’s agent confirmed to the Guardian that she died this morning at her home in Athens, “as a result of an unexpected accident. From now on, respect and privacy for the family are our priority. We also ask to respect your fanbase and to treat the privacy of the news with sensitivity ”.

The statement also said the producer was “a pioneer of a new sound, one of the most influential artists of the past decade. Not only for his brilliant production and creativity, but also for the message and visibility he achieved. An icon of liberation ”.

Sophie Xeox was born in the city of Glasgow, Scotland, and released her first single “Nothing More to Say” in 2013. Sophie gained new audiences with a recent release, “Bipp”.

The singer-songwriter released her debut album with the famous “Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides,” nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance / Electronic Album. She also co-wrote the song “Bitch I’m Madonna” for the work “Rebel Heart”, in addition to collaborating with names like Vince Staples, Let’s Eat Grandma, Charli XCX and Kim Petras.

SOPHIE was also trans and constantly discussed gender identity in her appearances. “Transsexuality is having control to bring your body into harmony with your soul and your spirit, so that the two don’t fight with each other… It means that you are not a mother or a father – but an individual who looks at the world and feels the world, ”she said in one of her interviews.
