“Aladdin” exceeded all expectations and raised $ 1.048 billion at the global box office. Naturally, Disney took advantage of the great success to continue the live-action version, confirming that a new production is already confirmed. But unlike many expected, “Aladdin 2” will not be based on the “Return of Jafar” animation, which is a direct continuation of the original production.

According to Variety magazine, a new live-action chapter will be original and should explore the vast universe of the news compiled in the book As Thousand and One Nights.

The Hollywood Reporter went even further and revealed that Casa do Mickey even had a meeting with a group of writers to brainstorm stories belonging to the literary work that could be used as the basis for the footage.

It is noteworthy that in the book some of the most famous fables are The Seven Voyages of Sinbad and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

Screenwriters John Gatins (“The Flight“) and Andrea Berloff (“Straight Outta Compton: The Story of the NWA”) were chosen to work on the script for the sequel. Guy Ritchie returns to the management.

The studio will also bring back the main cast, formed by Will Smith (Genius), Mena Massoud (Aladdin), Naomi Scott (Jasmine) and Marwan Kenzari (Jafar).
