In an interview with VentureBeat, Disney / Pixar Games VP Luigi Priore commented on the long-awaited game “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora,” which takes place in the cinematic world created by James Cameron.

Taking advantage of expectations for the game, Priore confirmed that the production will have an independent storyline from the films, bringing in new characters and even locations different from those seen on the big screen.

“What James Cameron and Jon Landau have created is an incredible world of science fiction. Pandora is amazing. They have great heroes. It’s a great playground to play. It will be a new story, with new characters. It will be part of the canon. The idea is that it will be part of the story of the Pandora franchise, but not a game in the movie. It’s an open world, with new characters. That’s why we call it “Pandora’s Borders”. It passes over another border, another area of Pandora’s moon.

With little information released, it is known that the game will not be available on PS5, Xbox, PC, Amazon Luna and Google Stadia until 2022, still without a confirmed date.
