‘Avengers: Endgame’ actor was injured by Marvel and didn’t want to return to sequel

In an interview with ComicBook, Frank Grillo, who plays villainous Bones Crossed in the MCU, revealed that he initially refused to return in “ Avengers: Endgame. ”

The actor admitted that he was unhappy with his character’s direction after signing a contract with Marvel for seven films, but was sidelined after only two brief appearances in the Captain America films. .

“Crossbones’ journey took an unexpected path and he left the MCU very, very quickly, right? And I was a little upset about that because I had signed a seven movie deal with Marvel. It was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to be a part of the Marvel Universe’, right? But that did not happen. Then they called me up and said, ‘Look, we need you to come over for a week to shoot the new Avengers movie,’ and I said, ‘Why? And they thought, ‘Well, we can’t …’, and I said, ‘No, I’m not going to do that.’ So I hung up. They called me back and I said to leave me alone.

He adds, revealing what made him come back to the movie: “My 22 year old son said to me, ‘You should do the Avengers movie.’ When I asked him why, he replied, “Because I tell you to do it. I don’t care if you’re in the movie for ten seconds. It will be part of the story. It will be something great. It will be important. And that’s why I came back, for my son, not because of the Russo brothers.
