‘Black Ray’ could win a Painkiller hero-focused spinoff

According to TVLine, CW is developing a spin-off series focused on Painkiller, a character featured in “Black Lightning” and played by Jordan Calloway.

The pilot episode of the project will air as the seventh episode of the 4th season of “Black Ray”. Salim Akil, executive producer of the original series, will be responsible for the script and direction of the pilot.

“Khalil Payne is a young man dominated by guilt from his troubled past in the town of Freeland, where, as the ultra-advanced killing machine known as Painkiller, he was a member of the Tobias Whale gang. After attempting to bury the darkest and deadliest part of his personality, Khalil moved away from everyone he knew and loved in order to find peace, but it is never easy for men with a past like his. As his violent and destructive story breaks his idyllic new start, Khalil is pushed back into action with a new mission – to deliver justice where there was previously only punishment – but to do so, he will first have to face its darker side, the Painkiller. “

The plot revolves around Jefferson Pierce, a father who must return to playing the vigilante role of Black Lightning when gang violence threatens the future of his community and his daughter becomes obsessed with carrying out justice. . He must be careful though, as the police are looking for him.
