“Blade”: “Revenge & Punishment” Delroy Lindo Joins Mahershala Ali in Reboot Cast

Published

According to The Hollwood Reporter, Delroy Lindo (“Revenge & Punishment”) has been added to the cast of “Blade,” a Marvel Studios reboot starring Mahershala Ali (“Stars Beyond Time”).

As of yet, there is still no information on what Lindo’s role will be in the adaptation.

However, it is possible that he plays Jamal Afari.

In the comics, Afari was the man who created and taught the vampire hunter everything he knew about leeches, as he faced Dracula himself in his youth.

In the movies, the character was adapted as a white man and renamed Abraham Whistler, played by Kris Kristofferson.

As for Lindo, the star is also known for films like ‘Malcolm X’ and 60 Seconds, but he regained notoriety after starring in ‘Blood Detachment’, directed by Spike Lee in 2020.

Recalling that he is only the second actor confirmed to the cast of ‘Blade’, with Ali.

Recently, Wesley Snipes, who brought the character to life in the original trilogy, revealed to Yahoo that he got the chance to talk to Ali and took the opportunity to talk about the role.

“We talked. The issue with her casting wasn’t between us, I have no problem not playing Blade, so I’m not really into the character. I don’t feel any emotional loss, zero, and I’m glad it got rescheduled and will certainly do a great job.

He goes on to comment on the advice he gave Ali: “Make sure you’re always in good shape, man. Ensure that. Try not to hurt yourself, this is important. The requirements of an action movie are that you have to be an elite athlete. And be well conditioned to survive and avoid injury. And enjoy it while it lasts.

Blade’s solo film is scheduled for release October 7, 2022.

Previously, director Bassam Tariq spoke with IndieWire and promised fans that his version would pay homage to the original trilogy, starring Snipes.

“What’s most exciting about the movie we’re making is that there was no canon for ‘Blade’, as we read the comics and all that,” a- he explained. “Living in the light of day was an established thing, and we know we can’t deny what Wesley Snipes did. A black man created the world of superheroes we’re in, that’s the truth. For me, working with someone as talented and awe-inspiring as Mahershala Ali and screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour, I am very honored to work with these black talents. For me, just being with them in the room, listening and learning as I build all of this is truly an honor.

Remember that filming does not begin until July 2022.

Recently, Kevin Feige, Creative Director of Marvel, said that the reboot will last no longer than 18 years.

“I think we direct everything we do to children and adults. I know fans would love to see a ‘Blade’ movie without restrictions, but they don’t. Turns out ‘Deadpool’ has established itself as an R-rated movie before, and changing that proposition wouldn’t do, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to invest that rating in just any movie.

He reinforced that:

“We have never been prevented from telling good stories with lower grades. if we ever go [impedidos], then there can certainly be a discussion on the topic. But our model is working so far.

The reboot is titled “Blade: The Vampire Slayer” and directly references the first anti-hero comics created in 1973 by screenwriter Marv Wolfman and illustrator Gene Colan.
