“Blade: Trinity” Director Breaks Silence Over Wesley Snipes’ Assault; “We are no longer friends”

During a lengthy interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director and screenwriter David S. Goyer spoke about the major works of his Hollywood career.

One of the issues was his controversial fight with Wesley Snipes backstage on “Blade: Trinity,” when he was assaulted by the actor.

The misunderstanding between the performers was first revealed in 2012, when actor Patton Oswalt commented on the tensions behind the camera at the time of the recordings.

At the time, Oswalt said that:

“Wesley didn’t leave his dressing room and just wanted to know how to smoke weed all day. He was very annoyed when he saw a black extra wearing a T-shirt with the word garbage on it. Wesley lashed out at Goyer and tried to suffocate him by shouting, “There’s just me and another black guy in the movie and you’re making him wear a shirt that says ‘trash’? You p # t * son, you racist! ‘. And he tried to strangle the director. “

Goyer decided to break the silence about the assault and confirmed what had happened, but he was subtle in not making the situation worse.

“I have immense respect for Wesley as an actor. He was a friend, but we’re not friends anymore. I’m friends with Patton and have worked with him ever since… I don’t think anyone involved in this movie had a good behind-the-scenes experience. Of that I’m sure. I don’t think anyone involved in the sequel was happy with the results. It was a very torturous production.

In November last year, Snipes denied the accusation during an interview with The Guardian and said he had been harassed since the indictment.

Enjoy watching:

“If I had tried to hang David S. Goyer, you probably wouldn’t talk to me now. Black man with muscles strangling a director goes to jail, I can guarantee that. Did I go to jail for hanging him? It never happened. “

He added:

“Why do people believe this guy’s story? Answer me. This is part of the challenges black people face here in America – these so-called accusations and slander. When a white man makes such a claim, then that accusation is held to be true. Why would people believe my version to be the true one? They are predisposed to believe that black people are still the problem. “

Recall that Goyer’s next work is the ‘Foundation’ series, a long-awaited adaptation of Apple TV + based on the novel written by Isaac Asimov in 1942.

Created by Goyer and Josh Friedman, the series revolves around a group of exiles who embarked on a monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization after the fall of the Galactic Empire.

The premiere takes place on September 24.

Check out the teaser:

When revolutionary Dr Hari Seldon foresees the impending downfall of the Empire, he and a group of devotees venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish the Foundation with the aim of rebuilding and preserving the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the rulers of Cleons – a long line of clone emperors – fear their grip on the galaxy is weakening as they are forced to consider the potential reality of losing their legacy forever.

The cast includes Jared Harris as Hari Seldon, Lee Pace as Brother Day, Lou Llobell as Gaal, Leah Harvey as Salvor, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk and Cassian Bilton in Brother Dawn’s.
