Box office failure with Chris Hemsworth debuts on Netflix

“Hacker” (Blackhat), director Michael Mann’s cyber-thriller (“Public Enemies,” “Collateral”) starring Chris Hemsworth, had one of the worst openings in movie history.

Released in 2015, the film was enshrined as the first box office bombshell of the year, raking in a paltry $ 4 million in its debut weekend, against a budget of $ 70 million.

The film became the 13th worst opening in history for a film that opened in more than 2,500 theaters in the United States.

However, the film has now found its audience on Netflix. Released in the catalog, the thriller debuted as the 3rd most viewed film in the catalog.

In the plot, Hemsworth plays a hacker arrested for committing cybercrime but removed from prison to track down the man who stole his code and invaded the internal system of a major US bank, triggering a series of dramatic events on the international stock market.

What didn’t go well? In addition to bad publicity, the film received a high R rating (over 17 only) and competed with Oscar nominee “ American Sniper, ” a film by director Clint Eastwood about the sniper.
