According to THR, Elizabeth Banks (“The Panthers“) has been hired to direct “Cocaine Bear,” a bear comedy thriller developed by Universal Pictures.

The screenplay was written by Jimmy Warden and is based on a true story that took place in Kentucky in 1985.

The story will revolve around an 80-pound black bear found dead of an overdose after ingesting large amounts of cocaine dumped in the forest by a drug dealer.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (‘Spider-Man Into Spider-Man’) will be the producers of the film.

In 2019, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella, who are currently responsible for the new film in the franchise “ Panic ”, were involved, but ended up walking away from the project for undetermined reasons.

New information should be published soon.
