The live series ‘Cowboy Bebop’ is one of the most anticipated productions of the year – but it seems to have fallen short of expectations.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the work has received 38% approval from specialist critics, with a rating of 5.50 / 10 based on 32 reviews to date. The general consensus is that “this live-action Bebop has a fun team, but replaces the whole soul of the original material with something disappointing and cheesy.”

Production will launch on the platform on November 19.

The adaptation is the result of a partnership between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios and will have 10 episodes in its first season.

The cast includes John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, Elena Satine and Alex Hassell.

Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg are the executive producers. Original production manager Shinichiro Watanabe will act as a consultant.

With touches of philosophy, deep and psychological dialogue, the anime ‘Cowboy Bepop’ tells the story of a group of bounty hunters who travel in a spaceship called Bepop. And when looking for work, conversations become even more interesting and thoughtful.
