Revision | CRUELLA is a visual blast that gives us the real Disney villain (Rating: 9.0)
‘Cruella’, the new live-action film presents the story of the legendary and most iconic – and notoriously fashionable – Disney villain Cruella de Vil.
Set in 1970s London in the midst of the punk rock revolution, the film features a young con artist named Estella, a smart and creative girl determined to make a name for herself through her designs. She befriends a couple of young thieves and together they make a living in the streets of London. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion caught the attention of Baroness Von Hellman, a terribly chic and spooky fashion legend. But their relationship sets off a series of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her rebellious side and become the wicked, elegant, revenge-oriented Cruella.
Despite the inevitable comparisons to Glenn Close’s portrayal of iconic villain Cruella de Vil in “101 Dalmatians,” actress Emma Stone has said her take on the character will be quite different from those we already know. ;
The adaptation revolves around the young Cruella de Vil, before becoming the big bad of the “101 Dalmatians”;
Craig Gillespie, from the remake of ‘A Hora do Amazto’, takes over the direction, from a screenplay signed by Tony McNamara (‘A Favorita’);
