On Rotten Tomatoes, the film starring Emma Stone received 73% approval, based on 141 reviews.

Among the main comments, some journalists were surprised by the plot “dark and clever, but also fun and extravagant”.

Stone’s performance was also highly regarded and the star is so convincing that he managed to rename the character immortalized by Glenn Close in the film “101 Dalmatians” (1996).

In addition, most analyzes were also unanimous in emphasizing the costumers’ attention to every detail of the clothing worn throughout the plot.

Still, some comments were quite drastic, like the Washington Post, which says:

“‘Cruella’ achieves the dubious feat of being boring, transgressive, chaotic and inert all at the same time.”
