According to SlashFilm, acclaimed director Joe Wright will make his musical debut via MGM with “Cyrano”.

Based on the eponymous play by Erica Schmidt, which in turn draws inspiration from the classic novel “Cyrano de Bergerac”, the film also features Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), Haley Bennett (“Seven men and one destiny” ), Bashir Salahuddin (“Marriage Story”) and Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One”).

‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ revolves around a man with an excessively large nose and perfectly aware of his appearance. This way he uses another man to help him win the girl of his dreams.

The film is slated for release on January 21, 2022 in US theaters, with no plans for its arrival in Brazil at the moment.

The timeless narrative has served as the inspiration for several contemporary romantic comedies, such as “Sierra Burgess is a Loser” and “Você Nem Imagina”.

The book has been adapted several times for the cinema, with a version in 1950, produced by Michael Gordon, and another in 1990, with Gérard Depardieu.

Wright is known for several classic cinematographic works, including “Pride and Prejudice” and “Desire and Reparation”. His other credits include “Anna Karenina”, “Pan”, “Hanna” and, most recently, “Fate of a Nation”, which won Gary Oldman the Oscar for Best Actor. Wright is also directing the upcoming “The Woman in the Window”, a thriller starring Amy Adams.
