Recently, producer Bruce Campbell revealed that recordings for the next film in the Evil Dead Rise franchise will be made from late 2021.

“We are planning to shoot ‘Evil Dead Rise’ later this year. The new film will have an urban setting and New Zealand is already well advanced in preventing and combating the coronavirus. We will be out of danger. ”

Sadly, Campbell hasn’t revealed the exact production date, but as he’s still releasing updates, it’s possible that more news will be revealed soon.

He previously told AL.com that the new film will feature a female character.

“The main element of the franchise has always been about having ordinary people facing an uncontrollable force of evil. It’s a scary concept. They are not competent people, they are not soldiers. And, in this new movie, it will be the same. We will have a heroine who will try to save her family.

Sadly, Campbell has also confirmed that Ash will not be returning for the new movie, as new protagonists will be added.

“The franchise has to be self-sufficient without depending on either character, you know? What is good is liberating. We can put in different heroes and heroines now, it will be a more dynamic plot … We just want to keep the series up to date, and not save what was in the past. The mantra of the franchise is that our heroes are just ordinary people, they can be anyone. ”

According to Empire, director Lee Cronin was selected by Sam Raimi himself, creator of the original films.

On his Twitter profile, Cronin said he was honored to have the opportunity to work with Raimi, producer Robert Tapert and Campbell himself.

“I think the cat is out of the bag. Or did Henrietta come out of the cellar? I am delighted with all kind words and wish good luck. Thank you! I am honored to collaborate with legends Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell in a new chapter of the “Death of the Demon” franchise. ”

I guess the cat is out of the bag. Or, has Henrietta come out of the fruit cellar? Touched by all kind words and warm wishes. Thank you! Humiliated to collaborate with legends Sam Raimi, @robtapert and @GroovyBruce on a new chapter in the Evil Dead universe. #EvilDead
