In an EXCLUSIVE interview with CinePOP to promote “Wonder Woman 1984”, director Patty Jenkins was asked if she thought the success of the first “Wonder Woman” had paved the way for other heroic films, like “Black Widow” .
According to the director, the success sent a message to the world:
“I really know that when we were doing our movie a lot of people spoke publicly about how we were going to fail. Everyone thought we were going to fail and no one was going to see a movie like this. I thought it didn’t make sense. Fortunately, I was blind to this … And now I see that other films are in the making. The success and the money send a big message to the world, and I’m very happy to have these things not only for us, of course, it’s great, but also to show the world that female-led films like superheroes are possible, ”concluded.
