In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, director Daniel Stamm (“The Last Exorcism”) revealed what separates the horror “The Devil’s Light” from other previously released exorcism films.
“A lot of these stories are based on ghosts from the past, devouring their victims until they deal with them. I believe the reason for that is the need for conflict. It gives you a story full of past conflicts to And since we’re telling a story about the “eternal struggle”, it was even more important to look at this generational aspect – with an entire family being targeted by the devil, generation after generation.
He adds: “And then there is the casting. The actors really elevated this movie – something you’re not necessarily used to in a horror movie. Jackie Byers as Sister Ann is amazing and fearless – it’s a revelation. I never want to make a movie without Jackie again. She has an incredible career ahead of her. Posy Taylor, our possessed daughter, has a sensational talent that no actor her age should have.”
Remember that the horror will be released in national theaters by Paris Filmes on October 27.
Have fun watching:
Pursued by a demon trying to reach her, Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers) has been fighting these evil forces since childhood when evil entered her mother’s home. Hearing voices, the mother hurt her daughter and these marks changed her whole story.
As an adult, the young nun works in a religious hospital where there are also exorcism courses offered only to priests. When she senses evil approaching again, she gets special permission to study the sacred ritual. What Ann didn’t imagine was that the demon who wanted her would bring back her darkest and most traumatic past.
The film was written by Robert Zappia (“Halloween H20: 20 years later”).
