‘Do the right thing’: Spike Lee’s acclaimed racial drama to release in 4K

“Do the Right Thing” has not only stood the test of time, it has also become one of the most iconic films in recent cinema history.

And the critically acclaimed feature film directed by Spike Lee and released in 1989 will finally win a 4K restoration in 2021. The announcement was made by Universal Pictures, which further revealed that the production would gain a series of additional previously unreleased content in its home video format.

The 4K launch will come in a combo with Blu-ray and a digital download code. The new release will feature more than four hours of additional material, including deleted and extended scenes, a new introduction from the director himself, as well as a behind-the-scenes documentary.

In addition to directing and writing the feature film, Spike Lee stars in the production alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Danny Aiello, Bill Nunn, John Turturro and Rosie Perez.
