Drake Bell pleads guilty to crimes involving minors, faces up to two years in prison

Actor and singer Drake Bell, best known for appearing in the popular Nickelodeon series “Drake & Josh”, has pleaded guilty to two counts involving minors and faces a sentence of more than several years in prison. The information was revealed by EW magazine (via ABC broadcaster).

Bell was previously arrested earlier this month in Cleveland for attempting to endanger children and disseminate harmful and sexually oriented material towards teens.

Although initially pleaded not guilty, Bell agreed to a plea deal and said he was guilty of both counts in a virtual hearing last Wednesday, according to a live broadcast of the hearing from the affiliate of the ABC website, the News 5 channel.

At the time, the judge noted:

“I understand there was a plea deal in which the accused will plead guilty to attempting to endanger children, a fourth degree felony [e] will plead guilty of disclosure of material prejudicial to minors, a first degree offense ”.

He then informed the Nickelodeon star, whose birth name is Jared Bell, that attempting to endanger children is punishable by six to 18 months in prison in monthly installments and / or a fine of up to go up to $ 5,000, although jail time is not mandatory. The second count carries up to six months in prison and / or a fine of up to $ 1,000.

The sentencing hearing will take place on July 12, when the victim can read their statement if they wish.

In an official statement to celebrity magazine, Bell’s attorney, Ian Friedman, noted that “all questions relating to this case will be answered at the sentencing hearing, including the real reason Mr. . Bell filed a plea agreement “.
