Bloomberg has released new information on the Warner Bros. deal. and producer Legendary Entertainment after the conflict over the simultaneous release of the films “Duna” and “Godzilla vs. Kong ‘in US theaters and the HBO Max streaming service.

According to the site, “the agreement will ensure independent payment of the film’s box office collection and increase the chance of bonuses depending on the performance of the production.”

“Anyone eligible for a bonus will receive half of the box office income that would normally be required to trigger a payout. And if more theaters close, the limit will decrease further – a metric called the ‘Covid-19 multiplier’. Those who would normally participate in box office profits will continue to do so and benefit from on-demand and on-demand sales. ”

It should be remembered that Legendary challenged the distributor’s decision to launch “Duna” and “Godzilla vs. Kong ‘practically because they were concerned about the long-term viability of franchises.

Legendary executives discovered this release policy, which follows in the footsteps of “Wonder Woman 1984,” just 30 minutes before Warner Bros.’s public statement. As previously reported, Legendary has reportedly placed Netflix as one of the potential partners to purchase “ Godzilla vs. Kong ‘for $ 250 million, but Warner blocked the decision.

Deadline also adds that Legendary Entertainment and its partners “provided 75% of the required $ 165 million ‘Dune’ budget,” providing “a similar amount of funding for the film ‘Godzilla vs. Kong ‘”.

“Godzilla vs. Kong ‘is the fourth entry into the legendary monster universe, following’ Godzilla ‘,’ Kong: Skull Island ‘and’ Godzilla II: King of the Monsters‘, and is set for release on March 25, 2021.

‘Duna’, meanwhile, is the long-awaited adaptation directed by Denis Villeneuve that will bring names like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista and others to the screen.
