Eight Brazilians invited to join Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences

The Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences recently announced that it has issued invitations to an additional 395 people in the entertainment industry – and Brazil is no slouch.

The information indicates that eight national artists have been included in the organizing entity of the award. Acclaimed actor Wagner Moura known for works such as “Tropa de Elite”, “Marighella” and “Narcos”, received the invitation with:

International guests include actors Robert Pattinson, Issa Rae, Maria Bakalova and Andra Day, acclaimed directors and screenwriters Emerald Fennell (‘Beautiful Revenge’) and Lee Isaac Chung (‘Minari’), writer and screenwriter Kenya Barris (‘A Prince in New York 2 ‘) and several others.

On the list, 46% of the members are women, while 39% are from ethnic communities under-represented in the entertainment scene. 53% are from countries other than the United States, in addition to including 89 Oscar nominees (and 25 laureates).
