Despite negative reviews from critics, “Eternos” surprised at the box office, becoming the second BIGGEST world premiere of the year, with $ 161.7 million raised globally in its first weekend.

The result was just behind the global debut of “The Fast and the Furious 9” ($ 163 million) – which was heavily boosted by China, where the feature film Vin Diesel debuted with a solid $ 136 million. . Keep in mind that “Eternals” won’t be released in China after director Chloe Zhao’s controversial comments about her homeland.

In the United States, the feature debuted below expectations, at $ 71 million. On the international market, it was $ 90.7 million.

Remember that the feature film is already screened in national theaters!

‘Eternals’ follows the journey of quasi-immortal beings, products of the evolutionary divergence that gave birth to the human race millennia ago. The characters relate to several concepts already introduced in previous universe films, from the Celestials (who came out in “Guardians of the Galaxy”) to Thanos, whose own mother was one of his victims.
