‘Eternals’ director explains why heroes weren’t affected by Thanos’ crack

Now that “Eternals” is hitting theaters, Marvel fans are wondering if any of the heroes were erased from reality after Thanos’ finger snap in “Avengers: Infinite War”.

Sadly, the answer isn’t revealed in the film, but director Chloe Zhao was asked about it during an interview with Cinema Blend.

In response, the filmmaker said that:

“Well, I couldn’t say it out loud, but if you consider what the Celestials told them about themselves, technically they can’t be affected by the snap.”

Zhao refers to the fact that the characters in “Eternals” are not considered “living things” as they fall into a category of energy beyond physical matter.

And, if you remember correctly, there is mention in “Infinite War” that only half of the “living things” in the universe would disappear when Thanos completed his plan.

Revision | Eternos is Marvel’s most artistic, complex and original film… for better or for worse!

‘Eternals’ follows the journey of quasi-immortal beings, products of the evolutionary divergence that gave birth to the human race millennia ago. The characters relate to several concepts already introduced in previous universe films, from the Celestials (who came out in “Guardians of the Galaxy”) to Thanos, whose own mother was one of his victims.

The cast also includes Salma Hayek (Ajak), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Lauren Ridloff (Makkari), Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos), Lia McHugh (Sprite), Gemma Chan (Sersi), Kit Harington (Black Knight), Barry Kheogan (Druig) and Richard Madden (Ikaris).
