Creator Sam Levinson, responsible for the acclaimed ‘Euphoria’ series and the filmmaker behind the feature film ‘Malcolm & Marie‘, already has a new project in hand.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will be executive producer of a new, still unnamed, original HBO series. The upcoming production will be an adaptation of the book “Ohio” by Stephen Markley.

The plot centers on a fateful summer night in 2013, when four former classmates return to their homeland – a fictional Midwestern town devastated by the 2008 recession and still living in ruins due to a crisis in the opioids. and even because of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each of these people returns with a past and a present of regret and secrets.

The series is described as a social critical drama, as well as a murder mystery.

Writer Markley signs the script for the project.

It should be remembered that Levinson is expected to return in 2021 with the second and long-awaited season of the ‘Euphoria’ series.
