Via Twitter, Santa Monica Studios, developer of the ‘God of War’ franchise in partnership with Sony, announced that the release of the new game is postponed until 2022.
Still untitled, the new title never had a release date set, but since the teaser was released last year, many expected it to be available in 2021.
The Santa Monica Studios ad says:
“Since the release of the upcoming ‘God of War’ teaser last year, we’ve been honored by the sheer amount of love the community has shown us. We are incredibly grateful to see so many people eager to experience the next chapter in Kratos and Atreus’ journey.
We are always focused on providing a high quality game while maintaining the safety and well-being of our team, creative partners and families. With that in mind, we’ve made the decision to postpone the launch until 2022.
Thank you all for your continued support, we are working on some exciting things that we can’t wait to show you.

Speaking of franchise, many fans dream of seeing a movie or TV adaptation of “God of War”.
However, it looks like Sony is not interested in the idea.
In an article published by the New York Times, Sony executives explained that they were focusing on planning the film adaptations of the “Uncharted” franchise.
And the adaptation of “The Last of Us” will be their big bet for television, because of that, they have no plans to invest in a live-action version of “God of War”.
However, they do recognize that the franchise has potential and could see a successful adaptation in the future, but that’s not something Sony is planning for the next five or ten years.
