Godzilla Vs Kong | What do we expect from the shock of the biggest monsters in cinema?

Under normal conditions, Godzilla Vs Kong would arrive in Brazilian theaters this week. However, with the pandemic most of the country is under lockdown, which includes the judicious shutdown of cinemas. And with Brazil still inexplicably lacking access to HBO MAX, Warner has only chosen to postpone his debut until April 29, with 99% certainty that he will suffer from a further postponement. The problem is that the US release is scheduled for this Wednesday (31) and, with the use of social media, it will be nearly impossible to avoid spoilers and important details of the film until the date of the alleged launch in Brazil. . . So, thinking of the flood of spoilers that Twitter will be on March 31, 2021, we’ve decided to kick off this list of things we hope to see in the Radioactive Lizard’s showdown against blond fan Gorilla. Check!

Tomorrow is the day to discover “Godzilla Vs. Kong”! Unless you live in Brazil, of course.

Insane bakery

Okay, this one is pretty obvious, right? If a studio announces that two Titans famous for destroying everything they go through, they are to be expected to fall in an honest strike, full of low blows, use of special powers, incredible weapons and everything to which they are entitled. After all, what’s the fun of having these two legends fight once in the whole movie? We expect them to slap and maim at least four times along the plot. The great truth is that if we put in 1h30 of Titãs fight, we are really satisfied.

Let there be a winner

Over the past few years we’ve had a few movies about icon clashes, like Captain America: Civil War (2016), Batman Vs Superman (2016), and Fast & Furious 8 (2017). Do you know what they all have in common? The heroes face each other, but find themselves without a winner, as they must come together to face a greater threat. It might have been cool the first time around, but it’s already saturated. If the film’s title is Godzilla Vs Kong, I don’t care even if they come together at the end, only there’s dire need for us to have a winner of this Homeric beating. Have you ever thought if every Rocky Balboa movie ended with a tie in the ring? No conditions. Let them follow the same logic here.

Minimum human interference

If there’s one thing Warner’s other MonsterVerse movies have clarified, it’s that no one literally cares about the cheap human drama that they insist on pointing to in their respective plots. So much so that the most entertaining movie in this universe is Kong: Skull Island (2017), which treats 90% of the cast as throwaway and shoots down pretty much everyone. Let’s face it… Amidst the destruction and incredible radioactive bursts, it makes no difference whether Eleven’s mother (Millie Bobby Brown) dies or not. In fact, when the director takes a scene of destroying one of the monsters to bring the Mexican soap opera, I have more hope that the human character on the screen really dies. In other words, I hope that human interference in this movie is as low as possible. And if you have enough screen time, I hope the characters shy away from this stereotype of incredibly stupid people who would die on 5 minutes of screen time in a teenage horror movie.

Striking aesthetics

Whether you like the MonsterVerse movies or not, one thing you can’t deny is that they all had fantastic aesthetics. While Godzilla (2014) bet on a reddish color mixed with shades of gray, Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) played with warm colors, like red, yellow and orange, contrasting with a beautiful closed blue. . Kong: Ilha da Caveira (2017) brought an explosion of primary colors, making the most of environmental toxicity. In the Godzilla Vs Kong trailer, we got to see that we’ll have some neon-filled scenes – probably in Tokyo – and more “subdued” tones next to Kong. The point is, this universe meeting can – and should – create a unique aesthetic, creating several fantastic paintings that in themselves are worth the price of admission.

Other titans

One thing that was amazing about Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) was that the Titans woke up together and touched terror across the world under King Ghidorah’s control. However, as the movie title suggests, Godzilla trades soups with the alien dragon and ends up being the new and only King of the Monsters. With his powers and influence, he orders the Kaijus to travel the world to restore the planet’s natural order, rebalance the ecosystem, and end global warming. Since he’s Alpha, it would be amazing to see some – or some – of these minions act against Kong or just come forward to destroy something. The more monsters, the better.

MechaGodzilla

As revealed in the latest China trailer, the fan theory that MechaGodzilla is in the movie is real. We just need to know how he will emerge, since the character has two completely different origins in the canon, and what the metallic giant looks like.

Godzilla Vs Kong opens in Brazil on April 29, 2021 (for now).
