After wrapping up filming on his upcoming movie ‘Five Eyes‘, acclaimed director Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct the war drama ‘Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ for Paramount (via Deadline).

The film is based on the non-fiction novel ‘Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops’, written by Damien Lewis.

The project has been in development since 2015, when the studio acquired the intellectual rights to the work.

The last screenplay was signed by Arash Amel (“A Private War“), with the draft story by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson.

“ Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare ” takes place in 1939, when English Prime Minister Winston Churchill decided to play the dirty role with the Germans by creating England’s first special forces team, which aimed to invade enemy lines. Members of the group knew they could die in battle and that the government would deny its existence, but they won major battles against the Nazis using a combination of artifice and brute force – breaking several rules of warfare.

Jerry Bruckheimer enters as a producer alongside Chad Oman, Ivan Atkinson and Vanessa Joyce.
