Hallmark Channel to produce LGBTQ + Christmas movies

After 40 Christmas movies were released by Hallmark Channel in 2020, several internet users criticized the network because none of the titles released will leave room for sexual diversity.

As a result, a spokesperson revealed to Good Morning America that Hallmark will be producing several films focusing on LGBTQ stories, characters and actors.

“Diversity and inclusion are a priority for us. We are committed to creating an experience where everyone feels represented. In the coming months, we will be announcing an LGBTQ-themed film series, ”the spokesperson said.

In a statement, Crown Media, which owns the rights under Hallmark, also pledged to partner with LGBTQ rights group GLAAD.

“To represent the LGBTQ community through our brand portfolio, the Crown Media team will continue to look for ways to be more inclusive and to celebrate our differences. We really regret any misunderstanding we have caused, ”said Mike Perry, President of Hallmark.

When it comes to Christmas movies, it should be noted that the coronavirus crisis will not affect the schedule.

Several of these films have already been recorded at the start of the year and others will begin pre-production, with filming scheduled in the coming months.
