In an interview with Indiewire, Mads Mikkelsen kept his hopes up for a possible fourth season of “Hannibal”, stating that he would love to adapt the story of “The Silence of the Lambs” in the next cycle.
“I think it’s no secret that, in the event of a new season, we would like to adapt“ The Silence of the Lambs ”. There was a problem at the time, as they did not have the rights to the book. But this is obviously the best known part of the story and we would love to expand on it. We would do our own version and there would be all kinds of crazy things.
He continues: “This story and its characters are very interesting. We would change some genres and maybe mix up some characters. I would love to meet someone to play Buffalo Bill. It would be difficult. We love the show, so it’s possible. “
Fuller recently revealed that he still hopes he can do a fourth season of the show – which was canceled due to very low ratings.
“I have high hopes. The good thing about this idea is, if we’re going to meet ‘Hannibal’, and take five, six, seven years for it, that’s how far we’ll see it. The story continues from this point. And we will adapt it ”.
The plot explored the relationship between a renowned psychiatrist and his patient, a young FBI agent, who is haunted by his ability to sympathize with serial killers.
The cast includes Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Caroline Dhavernas, Laurence Fishburne, Scott Thompson, Aaron Abrams and Gillian Anderson.
