‘Hawk and the Winter Soldier’: Ben Barnes turned down a role in the Disney + series

“ Hawk and the Winter Soldier ” introduced several new characters to the MCU, such as John Walker (Wyatt Russell), who promises to become a big villain after being defeated by the protagonists and stripped of his title of Captain America.

However, the series would also bring the presence of Ben Barnes (“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”) at the invitation of director Kari Skogland herself.

Unfortunately, the star had to decline the offer because he was recording ‘Shadow and Bones,’ Netflix’s upcoming fantasy series.

The information was revealed by Barnes during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.

“Kari Skogland sent me a message saying she was going to direct ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ ​​and invited me in because she had created a character just for me. I had to decline the invitation because I was preparing the recordings for “Shadow and Bones”, so I have no idea who this character would be.

The star did not elaborate, so it is not known if another actor replaced him.

But everything indicates that the mysterious role was ruled out, as Skogland created it exclusively for Barnes.

‘Shadow and Bones’ is a series based on the eponymous fantasy saga signed by Leigh Bardugo. The story revolves around Alina Starkov, an orphan who turns into a soldier in an attempt to survive in the dangerous and dark world of The Shadowfold.

Eric Heisserer (‘The Arrival’) enters as a showrunner and has adapted the first two volumes of the franchise. Shawn Levy (“Stranger Things”) is the executive producer.

Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young and Ben Barnes star in the production.
