We still don’t know who the next Captain America will be in the MCU, but if the ‘Hawk and the Winter Soldier’ plot follows the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) should be cast. .
And it looks like it has already been really defined.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Malcolm Spellman brought up the subject and pondered the possibility of seeing a black Captain America, virtually revealing the choice.
“The idea of a black man becoming Captain America seemed like a great opportunity when we were asked to work on the series. Even more in the moment we live, it is representative and symbolic.
Given his dedication to portraying Wilson as Captain America, there’s no doubt that he should take on the role of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) at the end of the season.
Previously, composer Henry Jackman spoke to the FilmSpeak podcast and said the story seeks to explain what it means to be a real hero, especially for a black man.
“There is a very particular problem with the show because the audience will see how much politics and ideology is behind a symbol. The series will explore how people will deal with the fact that Captain America is a black man.
“Plus, Sam Wilson himself will question whether a black man could represent America’s legacy like Steve Rogers did before him.”
