‘House of the Dragon’: Matt Smith joins the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff series

According to EW, Matt Smith (“The Crown”) has joined the cast of “House of the Dragon”, a spinoff series of “Game of Thrones”.

The actor will play Prince Daemon Targaryen, who is the younger brother of King Viserys (Paddy Considine). He is known for his fighting skills and his ability to ride dragons. But will he succumb to the particular fate of his family?

Olivia Cooke (‘Bates Motel’) and Emma D’Arcy (‘Truth Seekers’) also joined the cast. Cooke will play Alicent Hightower, the beautiful daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King. D’Arcy will bring to life Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Viserys’ eldest daughter.

The story of ‘House of the Dragon’ will take place 300 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and will follow Daenerys’ ancestors as House Targaryen collapses.

Created by George RR Martin and Ryan J. Condal, the series is based on the novel “Fogo & Sangue”.
