According to THR, Christy Hall, creator of the series “ I don’t agree with this, ” will be responsible for the script for the adaptation “ The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, ” which will be based on the book by same name of Stephen King, released in 1999.
Lynne Ramsay (“We need to talk about Kevin”) will direct the production.
In the plot of the book:
“On a ten-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail, 9-year-old Trisha McFarland quickly tires of the endless fights between her older brother, Pete, and their newly divorced mother. But when she wanders alone, then tries to take a shortcut, she gets lost in a labyrinth full of danger and terror.
After dark, Trisha has only her ingenuity to defend herself against the elements around her, and only her courage and faith to resist her growing fears. For her consolation, she tunes her walkman to the Red Sox baseball game broadcasts and follows the courageous performances of her hero, pitcher Tom Gordon. And when her radio reception starts to wane, Trisha imagines that Tom Gordon is with her – protecting her from a very real enemy who has left a trail of cut animals and mutilated trees in the dark, dense forest …
Roy Lee, producer of “It: A Coisa”, and Jon Berg, of Vertigo Films, will be the producers.
In addition, Chris Romero, wife of the late George A. Romero, is also involved in the project.
“I am delighted that my book has been adapted with the participation of [George A.] Romero. Chris [Romero] worked hard to make this project a reality, ”King said.
