Fans of “ ICarly ” are very excited after Nickelodeon announced a revival of the series with the return of much of the original cast.

Unfortunately, Jennette McCurdy, the interpreter of Sam Puckett, will not be reprising the iconic role.

Carly Shay’s best friend (Miranda Cosgrove) has become very striking because of her bad mood, her love for ham, fatty cakes and tacos, but also for her natural charisma.

But it seems the decision not to return came from McCurdy herself.

In an interview for the Empty Inside podcast, the star said she was ashamed of some roles in her childhood and teenage years and only remained active for most of her life to support her family.

“I stopped playing a few years ago. Instead, I prefer to write and direct, and this new phase is going very well. I decided to quit because I never wanted to act, to tell you the truth. My mother put me in this business when I was only six years old… At 10, I was already the main source of income for the family and I only continued thanks to them.

She continued:

“My family didn’t have a lot of money and that was the only way out back then. Playing has been helpful in giving me some success, but I don’t intend to go back. “

Now 28, she revealed that she is still ashamed of her roles.

“My experience as an actress still embarrasses me. I blame my career in a lot of ways, you know? I feel unsatisfied because some were very extravagant and embarrassing roles. I was about 12 or 13 when I started recording ‘iCarly’, when I finished I think I was 21 … I didn’t want to do this since I was 15, I was so ashamed. People stop me and say, ‘How amazing you are Sam from that Nick show,’ and I feel embarrassed every time. I imagine there is a very different experience of acting, when you are proud of the work you have done, but I don’t feel that.

Well, the fans will be sadly missed!

Previously, Miranda Cosgrove shared on her Instagram the first behind-the-scenes image of the rebirth, which will debut this year at Paramount +.

The protagonist appears alongside his colleagues Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress, interpreters of Spencer Shay and Freddie Benson.
