If you thought the wave of live-action remakes was over, you’d be wrong: in addition to the various reinterpretations of Walt Disney Studios, there may be another franchise winning a new release for the big screen.
An avid fan of the ‘Ice Age’ saga has created a petition (via Change.org) for 20th Century Fox, now under Disney tutelage, to revive the feature film series with its own remake. The order, which has been in the air for a few months, gained a platform last week and has so far received over 1,600 signatures.
The franchise debuted in 2002 and ran for five chapters until 2016, with the release of ‘Ice Age: The Big Bang’. In total, the films grossed over $ 3.2 billion at the global box office and became the 19th highest grossing saga in cinema history, behind ‘The Twilight Saga’, and the third highest. profitable entertainment, behind “Shrek” and “Despicable Me”.
The first feature film also drew a lot of reviews, earning a 77% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, its quality dropped significantly, hitting a meager 17% approval rating with the launch of the latest iteration.
Remember the synopsis of the first movie:
Twenty thousand years ago, in a world covered in ice, the mammoth Manfred and the sloth Sid save an orphaned human baby. From now on, they will face many adventures until they bring the little one of the people back to their tribe, who have migrated to a new camp.
