‘Ice City’: fairytale romance in new Netflix movie trailer

Netflix has released the first trailer for the feature film “Ice City”.

The 20th century is approaching. In winter, St. Petersburg turns into a fairytale wonderland, where frozen rivers and canals serve as icy roads and teem with skaters and markets. The town is home to Matvey, 18, who works as an ice skating delivery boy at a local bakery. Son of a poor lighter, his only treasure is a pair of silver-clad skates he inherited from his father. When he is unfairly fired, he joins a gang of pickpockets who work in the canals, led by the revolutionary Alex. Meanwhile, the daughter of a high-ranking officer, Alisa, feels trapped in her father’s mansion. She dreams of studying science, which goes against her father’s conservative views on the role of women in society. One day, their paths cross.

The cast includes Fedor Fedotov, Sonya Priss, Yuriy Borisov, Kirill Zaytsev, Aleksey Guskov and Severija Janusauskaite.
