According to Variety, Joel Kinnaman (‘Altered Carbon’) has joined the cast of the critically acclaimed series ‘In Therapy’, which is being developed by HBO.
He will play Adam, the boyfriend of Dr Brooke Lawrence (who will be played by Uzo Aduba, from “Orange is the New Black”). In the plot, the character will have recently returned to Brooke’s life, bringing issues with him.
The cast also includes Anthony Ramos (“Hamilton”), John Benjamin Hickey (“Manhattan”) and Quintessa Swindell (“Gatunas”).
The plot will bring a diverse trio of patients in session with the observant and empathetic Dr. Lawrence as she deals with her own issues.
The reboot is expected to begin in 2021.
The original production, presented between 2008 and 2019, brought Gabriel Byrne as a therapist who treated the most diverse patients while struggling to reconcile his personal dramas. One of the outstanding qualities was the structure of the program, with episodes airing five times a week and focusing on a different client – repeating the process every week, like a psychologist’s official schedule.
