‘Incredible Years’: ABC broadcaster orders remake of pilot episode of classic series

The reboot of the classic “Incredible Years” series is taking shape and its pilot episode has been commissioned by ABC. The information was revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the publication, Saladin K. Patterson (“The Big Banh Theory”, “Frasier“) will sign the pilot’s screenplay, in addition to assuming the role of executive producer, alongside Lee Daniels.

Neal Marlens, co-creator of the original series, will be the consultant for the project, which will also count on Fred Savage as executive producer and director of the episode in question.

The new version will revolve around “a black middle-class family from Alabama in the 1960s, during the civil rights movement.” The information comes from The Wrap.

“As a middle-class black family in Montgomery, Alabama in the turbulent 1960s, along with the original show, made sure that the Amazing Years were a part of its history as well.

Saladin Patterson (“Dave“) signed the script for the pilot episode. Additional information about the new version was not revealed.

Originally aired between 1988 and 1993, “Incredible Years” had six seasons and 115 episodes produced. Its plotline followed teenage Kevin Arnold’s transition to adulthood amid the turbulent social transformations of the late ’60s and early’ 70s.
