“Infinite”, a fiction adapted from the novel “The Reincarnations Papers”, by D. Eric Maikranz, will no longer be released in theaters.

Despite a budget of over $ 100 million, the film will premiere directly on the streaming service Paramount +. The change was announced Tuesday by ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish during a quarterly earnings conference call.

This type of move is likely to become more common for Paramount over time as the studio invests heavily in the platform.

The film would be released in August 2020 and had been postponed until May 2021. The new release date has not been revealed now that the production is going direct to streaming.

The project has been compared to “Matrix” in its scope and history. Anxious?

Mark Wahlberg, Dylan O’Brien, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson and Rupert Friend are the stars.

The plot follows Evan Michaels (Wahlberg), a man haunted by memories of his past lives. Faced with a secret society made up of individuals who have full memories of their past lives, Michaels discovers that they are responsible for drastic changes in historical times.

Antoine Fuqua directs and Lorenzo di Bonaventura produces.
