However, with “Top Gun: Maverick” the story is different.

Paramount Cast Chairman Chris Aronson revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the studio has no plans to postpone the theatrical release, or even launch the film directly on Paramount +, disproving the rumors.

The studio believes the coronavirus pandemic will end this summer after the vaccination.

Aronson said if the new U.S. government is successful in keeping its promises to distribute the vaccine, he believes enough theaters will be open until July 2 to avoid delays.

“We have no plans to change our Top Gun 2 theatrical release. I think the next two months are critical and we believe the new administration can implement a robust vaccination plan. If the 100 million Biden vaccines in 100 days work, I think we’ll be in good shape, ”he said.

Don’t forget that Netflix and Hulu made generous offers to Paramount Pictures to acquire the film. Details of the negotiations were not disclosed, but the publication said the studio had rejected the proposals, due to “the strength of the film’s box office outlook.”

The sequel is still set to hit theaters on July 9, 2021 in Brazil. In the USA, the premiere takes place a week earlier, on July 2.
