Jim Carrey Wins Best Villain at Critics Choice Super Awards for ‘Sonic the Movie’

“Sonic – The Movie” became an unprecedented box office and critical success. With the streak already confirmed, it was expected that the feature would win awards – which took place last Sunday (10).

At the Critics Choice Super Awards ceremony, Jim Carrey, who played Doctor Robotnik in the production, won the film’s Best Villain statuette. He has competed with Kathryn Newton (“Freaky”), Hilary Swank (“The Hunt”) and others.

It’s worth remembering that filming for ‘Sonic 2’ is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2021, between March 15 and May 10. The new chapter of the franchise will be filmed under the name “Emerald Hill”.

The sequel will be released on April 8, 2022 and will return Jeff Fowler to the presidency. Pat Casey and Josh Miller return as screenwriters.

Jim Carrey is also set to reprise his role as villain. Additionally, the sequel intends to introduce Tails, one of Sonic’s racing friends.
