Joker 2: Warner offered Joaquin Phoenix $ 50 million to make two sequels, newspaper says

“Joker” became a phenomenon when he surpassed $ 1 billion at the box office, it was hard to believe that Warner had no interest in starting a franchise. And it looks like the studio is considering not only a second film, but a third as well.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Joaquin Phoenix is negotiating a $ 50 million contract to play the Joker in two other films.

The source says scripts for both sequences are already being written and that Joaquin is “pretty committed” to production.

The idea for Warner Bros is to launch the new movies in 2023 and 2025.

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Joaquin Phoenix commented that he only signed on for one movie, but now he’s thinking about making a sequel.

“I think the fear was getting stuck and doing something repetitive that you didn’t care about, that wasn’t motivated or excited. Part of the attraction, for me, was that there was no expectation. I did not sign a contract to do [múltiplos filmes]. Only one”.

However, Phoenix admitted that he and director Todd Phillips started talking about the feature film’s sequel and what it might look like.

“In the second or third week of filming, I was like, ‘Todd, can you start working on a sequel? There is a lot to explore ”.
