Jordan Peele has become a formidable force on the contemporary film scene, mixing social criticism and horror films and finding huge success with titles like “Run! », « Us » and, more recently, « No! Do not look!’.
In an interview with Empire, the Oscar-winning filmmaker revealed that his ideas come from the very sin of humanity and, instead of providing a moral lesson, his main goal is not to teach the public, but to expose.
“I guess I don’t really see it as ‘what I mean’, I think it focuses on something about humanity that I haven’t seen yet. A ‘human sin’ is like that’s how I say it,” he said. “If I can discuss how I feel as part of our fall and I haven’t seen it in a cinematic way, I think that might work. . I made a movie about the show and our addiction to the show, our hopeless addiction to the show, and I thought if I followed the truth and followed the pleasure and followed my truth, I would invite [o público] to a discussion on the subject”.
He continues: “I believe that one does not go to see a film to hear something that someone has to say, one goes to see a film to hear and feel what someone wants to communicate. It’s one of those things where I like to see people dissect the movie, because a good movie is worth the same as a million conversations.”
Remembering ‘No! Do not look!’ hits Brazilian cinemas on August 25.
