According to a new report published in the Lad Bible (via the New York Post), star Keanu Reeves has donated much of the salary he received on “The Matrix” to science and research on the subject. Cancer.
Reports indicate that Reeves gave up roughly $ 31.5 million, or 70% of the money he made from the 1999 feature film ($ 45 million). The decision to donate a percentage of the salary is due to Reeves’ sister, Kim, who had battled the disease since 1991.
Recent news also reveals that Reeves continued to promote cancer research even after his sister went into remission in 2001, establishing a private foundation. As if that weren’t enough, in 2020 he auctioned off a 15-minute “meeting” on the Zoom platform, allocating the money raised to the Camp Rainbow Gold program.
Recalling that Reeves recently reprized his role as Neo in “The Matrix Resurrections”, which continues to air in national theaters.
