‘Killers of the Flower Moon’: filming for Martin Scorsese’s long-awaited film begins

Production of Martin Scorsese’s long-awaited feature “Killers of The Flower Moon” has already officially started.

According to the Indiewire portal, the main photograph for the film began being taken last Monday (19) in Oklahoma. Recordings are expected to extend throughout the North American summer season.

With an official statement, the Oscar-winning filmmaker celebrated the start of the work:

“Being able to tell this story in the territory where these events took place is extremely important and critical in enabling us to represent an accurate representation of time and people… We are delighted to be able to start working with our local technical team and the distribution, to immortalize a period in American history that should never be forgotten ”.

Tatanka Means (“I Know the Truth”), Michael Abbott Jr. (“Love”), Pat Healy (“Bad Education”) and Scott Shepherd (“Bridge of Spies”) will be part of the feature film.

The group joins Jesse Plemons, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, William Belleay, Louis Cancelmi, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson.

The feature film is based on the bestselling non-fiction novel written by David Grann.

It should be remembered that Apple acquired the rights to display and finance the feature film alongside Paramount Pictures.

Rodrigo Prieto, a frequent collaborator of Scorsese, will be the director of photography.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” follows the journey of the Osage Indian tribe, which sees several of its members murdered after the discovery of oil under the soil of their reservation in the 1920s. When the murders take on gigantic proportions, the agents of the FBI move to infiltrate the region to expose a major conspiracy.

In an interview with Collider, screenwriter Eric Roth shared some details about the work, commenting that the feature is not just a Scorsese western, but a different take on the well-known genre.

“I know Martin is trying to make a movie that is probably the last western that would be done that way and yet, with this amazing social documentary underneath, and the violence and the environment. I think it won’t look like anything we’ve seen, in a way. It’s one to stay for ages, for me ”.
