In the final episode of ‘Loki’, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) ended up murdering The One Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and opened the door to multiverse warfare on the MCU.
As a gigantic statue of Kang the Conqueror has been shown inside the Agency for Time Variance … Everything indicates that he will be the next big bad in the MCU.
But is he a threat to Thanos’ level?
During an interview with The Playlist, ‘Loki’ screenwriter Michael Waldron was asked the same question, to which he replied:
“The fans will have to wait and see. Honestly, I’m not aware of Kang’s role in any upcoming Marvel projects. But remember what the Remaining One said, “If you think I’m bad, wait until you know my variations. Jonathan is quite an artist, let’s see what awaits us.
The majors spoke to the comic recently and went into great detail about how the character will have a different dynamic in her upcoming appearances.
“The one who stays is the archetype of the sorcerer and of what happens to him when he is bored: he becomes a cheater, a buffoon. I think when we find him in ‘Loki’ he lives on the edge of anything he’s ever seen. You don’t really know where he is and I think the ambiguity of that is one of the kinky things about his character.
“From there, as Kang begins to raise his head and plan his conquests, he has no choice but to be in opposition or to be different from the One Standing. This is what motivated me the most to accept the role. Kang lives in as many iterations as The One Who Remains… Remember when he said, “Reincarnation, baby”? The new version we’ll see won’t be as fun and understanding as what we’ve seen on the series.
Recalling that the star is confirmed as Kang in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.
For those who don’t know, Kang is one of Marvel’s more complex characters due to his many identities over the years he’s faced off against the publisher’s heroes.
Described as a descendant of Reed Richards, Nathaniel Richards was born in the 30th century and had access to a time machine, which allowed him to travel through different eras of humanity assuming different identities in an attempt to become a supreme ruler.
Due to their activities, the Fantastic Four realized their interference in space-time and they became great enemies from there, which led to a series of catastrophic events in history.
It is not yet clear how the character will be revealed in the sequel, so his origins may be changed and other elements may be added in relation to his real self.
While waiting for the updates, it should be remembered that “Ant-Man and the Vespa: Quantumania” should be released on February 17, 2023.
In addition to Rudd in the lead role, the cast also includes the return of Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne / Vespa, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.
Newcomers are Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang’s new performer and Jonathan Majors as villainous Kang the Conqueror.
Kang carries with him a critically important arc for Marvel’s pantheon and could be the next big threat in theaters after Thanos.
The sequel features Peyton Reed’s return as a director, based on a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness (“Rick and Morty”).
Together, the two films in the franchise have grossed over $ 1 billion for Marvel Studios.
