The production is a ripe story about a boy who shares adventures on the Italian Riviera with his new best friend. But a dark secret about his true identity can threaten that connection.

According to the director of the feature film, Enrico Casarosa, the animation mixes elements of its history while growing up in Genoa, bringing in fragments referring to “The Little Mermaid” and the works of legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

Recently, Casarosa (‘La Luna‘) reflected on the content of the plot:

“It’s a deeply personal story for me, not only because it takes place on the Italian Riviera, where I grew up, but because it celebrates the value of childhood friendships. This phase usually defines the path we take in our lives and the kind of people we are going to become, “Luca” talks about exactly. In addition to the beauty and charm of the Italian coast, the film presents an unforgettable adventure that will change the life of the protagonist and the audience.

The “Luca” message will be voiced by Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer first appeared on CinePOP.
