‘Morbius’ postponed to October

Sony has announced a new postponement of “Morbius”, a film that will be part of the “Spider-Man” franchise.

Originally scheduled for July 31, 2019, the film had been postponed until March 18, 2021.

Now, production has been postponed again and will hit theaters on October 8, 2021. As such, it will hit theaters 15 months after its original release date.

During an interview with Variety, Jared Leto spoke about why the film would be different from current hero films.

For the star, the plot of the film is a kind of reinterpretation of “ The Doctor and the Monster, ” a literary classic written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1886.

“Morbius” looks more like a thriller and horror movie than a superhero movie, although it takes place in this universe. But the movie also has some funny moments … I would describe it as a tribute to “The Doctor and the Monster”. But it’s a blockbuster, definitely a blockbuster and I’m excited for the debut.

For those who are not familiar, the character first appeared in issue 101 of “ The Spectacular Spider-Man, ” released in 1971.

In the plot, Dr. Michael Morbius suffers an accident while testing the possible cure for a blood disease and ends up transforming into a vampire, artificially created and different from mythological creatures.

Initially, Morbius was a Spider-Man villain, but begins to act as an anti-hero and has already shared some HQs with Blade.

Previously, Sony released a new international trailer to promote the launch in Japan, and the video begins with an introduction from Leto.

Throughout the video, the star explains who Michael Morbius is and what he does …

But in addition, the star is keen to say that the film is part of an expanding universe that revolves around the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise.

“In the movie, I play a new Marvel character who tries to cure people with blood deficiency through experimental science. It’s his life plan, but it all gets out of hand when I become a vampire, ”he says.
