The acclaimed and long-running series “The Simpsons” became extremely well known for predicting countless events in pop culture – from the costumes worn by Lady Gaga to the 200 reais bill that would be sold in Brazil. And, now it looks like the animation made another accurate prediction: “Matrix Resurrections”.

In a Twitter thread that went viral on social media, user @lukeisamazing posted a small reference in the episode “The Ziff Who Came to Dinner,” an episode that aired in 2004. At the time, the “Matrix” trilogy dominated the discussions and, to profit from it in this huge success, the creators of the series decided to create a fake holiday special titled ‘A Matrix Christmas’, even featuring an “official” poster.

Of course, the Christmas special of a sci-fi franchise could only have stemmed from the incredible absurdity of “The Simpsons”. However, fifteen years later, Warner Bros. released as the main year-end title ‘The Matrix Resurrections’, which, while not a Christmas movie, was released around this time.

What did you think of the “forecasts”?

In the plot, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss return as Neo & Trinity movie icons in an expansion of their story that ventures into the Matrix and deeper into the Rabbit Hole.

A mind-boggling new adventure with action and epic scale, set in a familiar but even more provocative world where reality is more subjective than ever and all it takes to see the truth is to clear your mind .

20 years after the first film, the franchise that helped define pop culture at the turn of the century is back in the continuity and extension of the original film. Matrix remains in tune with the times like a film that has changed our outlook on cinema and reality itself. With its groundbreaking action and visuals, The Matrix helped pave the way for films to come.

In addition to Reeves and Moss, the cast includes Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe), Daniel Bernhardt (Agent Johnson), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci and Priyanka Chopra.

“Matrix” was released in 1999 and acclaimed around the world for its pioneering visual effects. The original won four Oscars and grossed $ 463 million worldwide.

Two sequels followed, ‘The Matrix: Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix: Revolutions’, both of which hit theaters in 2003.

In total, the trilogy raised $ 1.6 billion for Warner Bros. Pictures.
