The film version of ‘Cats’, directed by Tom Hooper (“The Danish Girl”) in 2019, was considered one of the worst productions in the history of cinema.
In addition to registering just 15% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the film earned just $73 million off a $95 million budget. The film lost $113 million to Universal.
Now, Netflix has announced that it will release the film in its catalog on August 10.
Despite the prominent names, such as Judi Dench, Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson, the film was a bomb.
Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, responsible for the musical “Cats,” blasted the adaptation.
“The problem with the movie is that director Tom Hooper decided he didn’t want anyone involved in the original musical. It was all ridiculous.
It’s worth remembering that ‘Cats’ only got 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. The general consensus is that the script is bland and due to the infamous visual effects on the characters, they cannot be taken seriously.
